The easiest way to remove the wrinkles of a painting canvas is to iron it when the iron is hot. However, before doing so, you are suggested to go through the article so you can fully understand what to do and what to avoid.
You can relax knowing wrinkles on canvases are very common. However, for paint by numbers, the canvases are special due to the printing of numbers and lines, hence making it a little complicated to deal with. Nonetheless, they can be dealt with, lets see how.
Avoid using excessive amount of water:
Many professionals suggest using water when ironing the canvas to remove the wrinkles. If you do so, be careful as paint by number canvases are different than regular canvases. They have numbers and lines to divide the regions and excess water and steam produced can actually clear the canvas completely. Make sure you don’t keep the iron in one place for too long and you press down firmly on the canvas to remove any wrinkles present.
Avoid ironing directly on the canvas:
Before ironing, make sure to put the canvas upside down. Don’t iron directly on the canvas. If you do, there is a high risk that the ink will be smudged. If you don’t want to ruin your paint by number canvas, we suggest you avoid direct contact. You can even use a dry cloth. Put it on the backside of the canvas and iron the cloth. This means no direct contact but you still are able to get rid of the wrinkles.
Make sure to strain your canvas:
Make sure your canvas is fully stretched. This will help get rid of wrinkles.
